It has been my dream to open a shop in Nashville, Indiana–a place that we dearly love and call home. With the resurgence of the needle arts (especially knitting) around the world and in my own life, I decided that a local yarn shop was it! My son, Paul, makes some incredible pottery that we are proud to sell at The Clay Purl. We have some other artistic endeavors that will show up for sale at The Clay Purl, so come and see us. We also offer frequent buyer discounts, knitting and crocheting classes, and some free patterns with yarn purchases.
We are located at 90 W. Franklin St. in Nashville, IN.
About Michele (Shelly):
I was born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana; and studied Business Administration, Marketing and German at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, where I met my husband, David. We have 2 grown children, Alyssa (who is married to Matt Stanley), Paul (who lives in Indianapolis), and one beautiful three year old granddaughter, Elayna, and a brand new grandson, Eyan.
David and I spent our honeymoon in Nashville, IN. Then, several years later we inherited the family “cabin” from my parents. We have always loved “getting away” in Brown County–that is when we weren’t living here! We first moved to Nashville in 1986 and stayed until 1992, when we moved our family to Kiev, Ukraine to serve as missionaries for 2 years. We returned to Nashville again in 2005, and hope to stay here forever. David is the pastor at the Parkview Church (across from the Brown County State Park). I have been an art teacher, an office manager, the Marketing Director at Gaither Family Resources in Alexandria, Indiana, and the graphics designer for the Women’s Ministries department at the World Headquarters of The Wesleyan Church in Fishers, IN.
I blog occasionally at michelehayes.wordpress.com.
